Imperial Measurements for Crumblies

3 ounces, 4 inches & 5 farthings

The history of Britain’s Imperial Measurement System is linked inexorably with the history of the British Isles. As the system fades gradually into obscurity in the early part of the 21 st century, this paper is to record and celebrate some of the unique and idiosyncratic glories of the Imperial Measurement System before it is finally expunged from memory by what Shakespeare termed “the envy of less happier lands”.

A nostalgic (and humorous) look back at nearly two hundred ancient British measurements for money, weight, length and more than a dozen other walks of life.

An eBook version of Imperial Measurements is now available on Amazon Kindle.
